Chevy Trax - Mudflap
The Chevrolet Trax concept isn't a replacement for the Chevy Tracker - it's quite a bit smaller than that. The Chevrolet Trax is an urban crossover concept that combines a low-cost all-wheel-drive system with a rugged SUV-like look, thanks to its integrated like bumpers and fenders, the rear-mounted spare tire and a roof rack. It is powered by a 1-liter gasoline engine.Simple door lines make getting in and out easier, while fold-flat rear seats add functionality. The dynamic and off-road character is underlined by many styling cues: a voluminous, single-unit bumper and fender in front and rear, a pronounced front wheel arch shape, dynamic side character lines, a rear-mounted spare tire and roof rack. Brake calipers in Flame Yellow infuse additional attitude.
Even though it was decided the Trax will not go into production, the Chevrolet Trax is one of three small car concepts introduced on 4 April 2007 at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. The Trax showcases a new style of small car from General Motors with a two-tone exterior. The upper part of the exterior is bathed in Blaze Orange, while lower corner panels sport a Burnt Orange matte finish. The paint combination provides a look that reinforces the notion this Chevrolet is all business despite its small size. The Trax prototype rides on the bones of the Spark and shows the design direction the Spark replacement could take. We say could, because GM is holding back pictures of two other design themes the tiny hatchback could take. Car experts love the chunky little wagon's look, with its big round lights and extra-thick Chevrolet crossbar grille. It's also got a combination matte/gloss orange finish that we'll reserve judgment on until we see how it looks in person.
The Trax is a vehicle that you can show off anywhere, be it off-road or on the road, said Sangyeon Cho, manager of the mini car exterior design team at the GM Design Center in Inchon, South Korea. It brings a rational combination of SUV design, function, performance and value to the consumer. Other features that suit its dynamic and off-road character include a voluminous, single-unit bumper and fender in front and rear, a pronounced front wheel arch shape, dynamic side character lines, a rear-mounted spare tire and roof rack. Brake calipers in Flame Yellow infuse additional attitude. The package rides on 16-inch wheels and Kumho tires for precise ride and handling. This micro SUV has an electric limited-slip differential that features an independent battery pack and an electric motor to drive the rear wheels, providing a low-cost all-wheel-drive system.
